Patriot Ledger reporter Jessica Trufant will be hosting open hours for the public from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at in Meeting Room 134 at Tufts Library, 46 Broad St. Feel free to stop by to ask questions, make a suggestion or simply say hello. A little about Jess, who just wrote this subscriber-only blockbuster development story you don't want to miss, in her own words:
I've worked at the Ledger for nine years and I've covered Weymouth for about five.
I grew up in the Metrowest area, and spent summers in Marshfield since I was a kid. I have lots of family ties to Ledgerland. Fun fact: An ancestor on my father's side immigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630 and settled in Duxbury in 1639. Apparently we don't travel too far.
My husband is a firefighter (my dad was one, too) and we live just north of Boston. He basically had to drag me kicking and screaming over the Zakim Bridge, but I've adjusted. I still stand firm that North Shore traffic is worse than South Shore, though.
I have a chocolate Lab and an 8-year-old bonus daughter, and I love spending time outside and trying new restaurants.
In the last year, I've covered topics from controversial proposed funeral home changes to the opening of the new Chapman Middle School and the ongoing fight against the compressor station. I've written about the openings of new restaurants, the reinvention of others (check out The Venetian update here) and the closings of some long-time beloved ones.
