Short biography: Maskey was inspired to write her series, "Ferdinand with the Extra Toes," after her cat Ferdinand, who is a polydactyl cat, meaning he was born with extra claws on all of his paws. Maskey wrote her first book about Ferdinand last year to help children accept and be proud of those qualities that make them special and unique. The story continues on his next adventure, "Ferdinand with the Extra Toes Meets Petunia!," where Ferdinand is able to share his message and show a new friend just what is special about her.
