Max Litton, Akhil Elangovan claim Class 3 doubles title for Rock Bridge tennis

Rock Bridge tennis has added another state title to its impressive history.

The Bruins duo of Max Litton and Akhil Elangovan claimed the Class 3 doubles tournament title Friday over Rockhurst's Grant Wiedeman and Nicholas Koca.

Litton and Elangovan won 6-4, 6-3 to claim the championship.

The Bruins team fell in the sectionals to Marquette, which is playing in the Class 3 team semifinals on May 28. The loss ended a streak of 19 straight MSHSAA Final Four appearances for Rock Bridge.

Friday, however, marked the first individual doubles title for Rock Bridge since the 2019 season when seniors Luke Bouchard and Kavin Anand took home the state title.

The Bruins also took home the team state title that same year.

Coincidentally, Bouchard and Anand's state doubles title in 2019 came over Litton during Litton's freshman season. Litton partnered with then-senior Kam Farid.

The title is a fitting sendoff for Litton and Elangovan, two of the six seniors Rock Bridge graduates from a program that's claimed eight state championships since 2008.
