Maury sweeps Class 5 Region B awards as RB Peyton Jones, DB Davontae Floyd, coach Dyrri McCain earn top honors

Maury swept the Class 5 Region B football awards as running back Peyton Jones was named Offensive Player of the Year, defensive back Davontae Floyd was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Dyrri McCain was named the Coach of the Year.

Jones, who also was named the Eastern District Offensive Player of the Year, has rushed for 1,440 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. He has 1,857 all-purpose yards and 16 total touchdowns.

Floyd has 19 tackles, three pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and one interception.

And McCain has led the Commodores to five consecutive region titles.

Maury plays Highland Springs in the Class 5 state championship on Saturday at noon at Old Dominion University’s S.B. Ballard Stadium
