The Masked Singer has unmasked its fourth celebrity contestant.

ITV’s wackiest reality TV series returned on Saturday (16 January), with Grandfather Clock, Harlequin, Bush Baby, Viking and Blob performing for a second week.

After Viking and Grandfather Clock received the least number of votes from the audience, the two mystery stars went head-to-head to decide who would remain in the programme and who would be booted off.

Following Grandfather Clock’s loss, the judges were shocked to learn that the celebrity behind the costume was former England footballer Glenn Hoddle.

The panel had suspected that Grandfather Clock was a footballer after he revealed in his VT that he had seen Diego Maradona’s “hand of God” goal during the 1986 World Cup.

Another clue was a letter addressed to a Swindon postcode, with Hoddle having previously played for Swindon Town FC.

During his two lies and a truth round, Grandfather Clock revealed that a prime minister once compared themselves to him, something Tony Blair did to Hoddle.

Fans at home had guessed that Hoddle, Chris Kamara, Chris Waddle or Peter Shilton could be behind the mask.

The Masked Singer returns next Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
