Marvin Harrison Sr. on Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.: 'It's kind of surreal'

When Marvin Harrison Sr. saw his son Marvin Harrison Jr.'s video racing a JUGS machine at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, he admitted he was a bit shocked.

"When I did see this, I was like, 'What are you doing?'" Marvin Harrison Sr. said on FOX's "Big Noon Kickoff." "I was like, 'You got to save this for later.'"

To Marvin Harrison Sr., a NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver who played for the Indianapolis Colts from 1996-2008, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s emergence as one of Ohio State football's top weapons has been "surreal."

"As you watch week in and week out, and his determination to play and get better, it's like he's doing everything he needs to do as long as he stays focused and keeps his head level," Harrison said. "Week in and week out, just forget about last week and focus on this week."

Marvin Harrison Sr. said he wanted his son to choose a college that was "very competitive and (would) just bring the best out of him," but admitted he never really had a moment where he realized what Marvin Harrison Jr. could do at the next level.

"I just told my kid to focus on school and be the best player he can be and keep working hard," Marvin Harrison Sr. said.

Through seven games, Marvin Harrison Jr. leads Ohio State with 10 touchdowns recording 598 receiving yards on 38 catches.

In his 13-year career with the Indianapolis Colts, Marvin Harrison Sr. recorded 128 touchdowns and 14,580 receiving yards on 1,102 receptions.
