Marquette adds beer and wine sales to Al McGuire center and Valley Fields

Marquette University will sell beer and wine during athletic events at the Al McGuire Center and Valley Fields, according to a news release from the university.

The release said that the university researched the opportunity to provide alcohol at the facility, and found that it would enhance experiences at the athletic centers and would bring Marquette in line with its peers in the Big East and many other colleges and universities.

“Giving fans more beverage options helps elevate the experience for our Marquette alumni, parents and students of legal drinking age who are used to similar accommodations at sporting events in our city and when enjoying games on the road,” Bill Scholl, vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, said in the release. “We encourage fans to enjoy responsibly and be positive contributors to the game atmosphere.”

Sodexo, which runs Marquette's dining services, catering services and University concessions, applied for the liquor license with the city, and will manage alcohol sales at Al McGuire Center and Valley Fields.
