Marketplace Mall reopens after multi-day power outage

The lights are back on at Marketplace Mall in Henrietta.

UPDATE (Jan. 26, 2022): Marketplace Mall reopened at 10 a.m. Wednesday after power was restored to the the property on Hylan Drive in Henrietta. Power was initially lost Sunday, forcing the temporary shutdown. Mall owner Wilmorite announced Wednesday's reopening on its social media accounts.

Mall owners did not say what caused the power outage.

UPDATE (Jan. 25, 2022): Marketplace Mall remained closed Tuesday because of an ongoing power outage, mall owner Wilmorite stated in an email. Power was initially lost Sunday. Since then, mall crews, along with Rochester Gas and Electric and local electric companies, have been working "around the clock" to restore power, the email said.

A number of mall businesses with their own exterior entrances continue operating. They are Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney, M&T Bank, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Lands’ End, Dave & Buster’s and IndyKart Raceway.

Construction work on a UR Medicine orthopedic center on the site of the old Sears store has been unaffected by the outage because that project has its own RG&E feed, a University of Rochester Medical Center spokesperson said.

Further mall updates will be posted to the property's social media accounts.

ORIGINAL STORY (Jan. 24, 2022): The Marketplace Mall is closed temporarily because of a power outage.

The outage occurred Sunday, which initially forced the shopping center to shut down.

At 12:30 p.m. Monday, the mall's social media accounts announced that the problem had not been fixed and the mall would remain closed Monday.

Marketplace retailers with exterior entrances may be open, but customers are advised to call before visiting.

Updates on the mall's status will be posted to its Facebook and Twitter accounts.
