ON THE MARK: Buchanan grabs lead in links battle

Mary Beth Buchanan is in the No. 1 spot halfway through the Eclectic Tournament put on by the Adams Women’s Golf Association.

Buchanan carved out low net score of 64 and low putts total of 28 to lead the A Flight.

The second round of the tourney is planned for Aug. 11.

Following are the other first-round leaders.

B FLIGHT: Low net — Jodie Porter-Brown (71), Low putts — Willy Polk and Kathy Kubitz (34).

9 HOLE: Low net — Su Harris (39), Carla Lyle (39) and Ann Spencer (39). Low putts — Jana Marion (17).

BIRDIES: Buchanan (No. 8), Dana Jordan (No. 17).

HOLE OUTS: buchanan (No. 8, No. 16), Mandy Stewart (No. 9), Sue Ellen Layton (No. 10), Barbara Oldham (No. 13).

During their final competition in July, the AWGA put on a Low Net on Par 4s feature.

Felicia Nelson nailed down the feature (42) and low net round (69) titles in the A Flight. Kathy Brown ruled in low putts (27).

B FLIGHT: Feature — Porter-Brown (37), Low net — Porter-brown (71), Low putts — Marion (31).

BIRDIES: Kathy Brown (No. 1, No. 3).

HOLE OUTS: Kathy Brown (No. 3), Nelson (No. 4), Porter-Brown (No. 10).
