Marcus Stroman posts adorable throwback after being traded to Mets

Upon looking at Marcus Stroman’s Twitter timeline after being dealt from the Toronto Blue Jays to the New York Mets on Sunday evening, you can almost envision the text that he sent to one of his family members shortly after finding out that he had been traded.

While we don’t have the kind of access to the man’s life that allows us to tell you what the message said verbatim, I’d imagine that it read something along the lines of “Hey, can you send over that really cute photo of me wearing that Mets jacket while a young whippersnapper”.

(Again, we can’t confirm or deny that Stroman used the word “whippersnapper” within the text. Nor can we confirm or deny that he’s ever used the word in any facet of his life.)

Regardless of whatever way it was communicated, baseball fans were the benefactors.

Just look at that smile!

Born in Medford, New York, the 28-year-old grew up about an hour away from Citi Field. Following five-and-a-half seasons north of the border, the right-hander will now have the opportunity to pitch close to home and the many family members that live there.

While that is plenty of reason to be excited, it doesn’t mean that he didn’t appreciate the many opportunities that the Blue Jays offered him early in his career.

Shortly after the trade reports began to surface, he posted the following tweet.

Then, less than two hours later, he wrote a little more about his time in the blue and white.

From his fiery passion while on the mound to his unfiltered presence on social media, Stroman was a MLB player unlike any Toronto had ever seen. And although he wasn’t liked by everyone, there’s no denying that he was one of a kind.
