Man killed in fire on Locust Street

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office reported a fatal fire at 11:07 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Locust Street.

Authorities said first responders arrived to find a two-story wood structure showing heavy smoke and fire from the rear of the residence. Emergency personnel were advised of one 70-year-old man who lived at the home and was possibly still inside. Firefighters made entry and found the man deceased inside. The name of the victim is being withheld upon notification of immediate family.

Assisting on scene were the Coshocton County Coroner's Office, Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office, Salvation Army, Coshocton Street Department, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services and Coshocton, Three Rivers and Jackson Township fire departments. The Coshocton Fire Department and Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the blaze to determine cause.
