Man killed crossing Cerrillos Road near Siler Road on Friday evening

Dec. 3—A man was killed crossing Cerrillos Road on Friday night.

A Santa Fe police officer was conducting a call for service at 3004 Cerrillos, near Siler Road, at 7:39 p.m. when he heard a loud sound and saw a person flying through the air and then fall to the ground after being hit by a vehicle. The officer responded immediately, and Santa Fe Fire Department paramedics arrived two minutes later to transport the man to Christus St. Vincent Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The driver stayed on scene, and police said impairment was not a factor. The pedestrian, they said, was crossing the southbound lanes of Cerrillos from the area of Motel 6 toward the opposite side of the road in an area without a crosswalk. The southbound lanes of Cerrillos between Siler and Calle del Cielo were closed Friday night as police investigated.

Police are working to identify the man and his next of kin.
