Man killed after being struck by two cars in Rootstown on Thanksgiving identified

The Portage County Coroner’s Office said Monday that a man killed after being struck by two cars in Rootstown early Thanksgiving morning has been identified as a Camp Road man.

Jonathon Heil, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Wayne Enders, coroner’s office administrator.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the man was struck first by a 2008 Hyundai Azera driven by Isabella Prybuto, 18, of Ravenna, on the westbound side of Lynn Road, just east of Route 44, at approximately 5:55 a.m. Thursday.

“The evidence that we have at this time shows that he was standing in the roadway,” said Lt. Scott Louive, of the highway patrol’s Ravenna post.

Louive said the force of the impact threw the man into the eastbound lane, where he was struck by a 2018 Kia Forte driven by David Maddaluno, 25, of Rootstown.

The Rootstown Fire department, Portage County Sheriff’s Office and Portage County Prosecutor’s Office assisted at the scene. The highway patrol is continuing to investigate.
