Police identify man killed after flipping car, crashing into home in Milton area Saturday

A 20-year-old man who was taken to a local hospital after crashing his vehicle into a Milton-area home on Saturday has died, Delaware State Police said Monday.

Police said Charles Maxwell, who was traveling across Diamond Farm Road at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, was driving at “a high rate of speed” when he left the roadway, overturned his 2003 Mercedes-Benz E-320 and went through a home on the 1700 block of Harbeson Road.

The vehicle came to final rest inside the garage, on top of a Toyota 4-Runner, according to a news release.

Police said Maxwell was "properly restrained" but in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital. He later died.

Harbeson Road was closed down for about four hours as a result of the crash.
