Camren Bruneau Jean, 35, of Gastonia was indicted on felony charges of attempted first-degree murder and malicious assault in the March 31 shooting of 53-year-old Randy Gibson near the Gaston County Courthouse.

Gibson passed Jean on the street near the Gaston County Courthouse, and police told WSOC-TV that the man turned around and shot Gibson without warning or provocation. The bullet entered Gibson’s shoulder and went through his face.

Gibson told WSOC-TV that he has a broken jaw from the bullet wound in his face.  He told reporter Ken Lemon that doctors have told him he will be permanently paralyzed on the left side of his face.

“I still hear the bang right down in the deep of my soul. Every day I hear it ‘cause it was so close to me, so close,” he said.

Including Jean, the grand jury issued a total of 154 bills of indictment on Monday. The grand jury in Gaston County meets every two weeks. During their meetings, prosecutors present evidence that those under investigation have committed a crime, and if the grand jury feels there is enough evidence of a crime for a case to move forward, they issue an indictment.
