Victim's identity released from Saturday's fatal shooting in Peoria

PEORIA — A 21-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday, Peoria police said.

Roger Browder of North Sheridan Road was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:07 p.m., said Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.

Officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire near the intersection of North Bigelow Street and West Richmond Avenue. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. No additional details are available and the investigation is ongoing.

It was the city’s ninth homicide of 2022 – the sixth related to gun violence — said Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth.
