Man dies after Saturday motorcycle crash

A Wichita Falls man involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening died this weekend, according to police.

Grayson Coates, 22, died just before 4 a.m. Sunday, police said. Coates, the motorcycle rider, was wearing a helmet.

Coates' death marks the seventh motorcycle fatality and the 12th traffic accident-related death in Wichita Falls for 2022, according to police.

Wichita Falls police responded about 10:50 p.m. Saturday to the area of Midwestern Parkway and Cedar Elm to investigate a single motorcycle crash, according to police

Coates was transported to United Regional Health Care System for treatment, police said.

A witness told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the curve on Midwestern Parkway near Cedar Elm, police said. The motorcycle hit the curb and then struck a metal sign.
