Man arrested after brother stabbed in neck

One man was arrested early Saturday after a stabbing hours earlier.

Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies said the 37-year-old suspect was found about 4 hours after the stabbing in Convis Township southeast of Bellevue.

Deputies were called at 9:43 p.m. Friday to a home in the 23000 block of Junction Road and found that a 50-year-old man was stabbed in the neck.

When deputies arrived family members were treating the injured man and said that the victim's half-brother was responsible.

The suspect had fled on foot and deputies began to search with police dogs and eight officers from the sheriff's department, Michigan State Police and Battle Creek Police Department.

Over several hours emergency dispatchers received calls from residents about a man matching the description of the suspect knocking on doors in the area of the stabbing

At 1:33 a.m. deputies and troopers were called to the Bellevue Mobile Home park in the 23000 block of 15 Mile Road about a man knocking on the door of a residence. They arrested the 38-year-old man without incident on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

The suspect was taken to the Calhoun County Jail and the victim to the hospital for treatment of the neck injury.

Police were assisted by the Marshall Area Fire Fighters Ambulance Authority and the Bellevue Fire Department.
