Man arrested in connection with Phoenix man found in trunk of car

A man has been arrested in connection to a missing Phoenix man who was found dead inside the trunk of a car in Las Vegas.

Tony Danh, 37, was identified as the suspect and subsequently arrested by officers following an investigation into the matter.

On Aug. 19 around 1:46 p.m., Las Vegas police were dispatched to investigate a suspicious vehicle near West Tropicana Avenue and West Valley View Drive, Las Vegas police said in a statement.

Afterward, a foul odor was reported as coming from inside the car, the statement said. Officers responded and ultimately located a deceased male inside the trunk.

Detectives from Las Vegas homicide were then dispatched to investigate.

According to detectives, the victim had been there for quite sometime due to the level of decomposition of the body.

The Clark County Coroners Office later identified the victim as Amir Haggi, 41. Haggi was reported missing on June 5; he was last seen near North 16th Street and East Colter Street, according to Phoenix police.

As detectives continued their investigation, they were able to locate Danh who was now in San Diego County. He was captured by a cross-department team, including officers from Las Vegas.

He was arrested on Sept. 29 and booked into San Diego Central Jail where he is currently awaiting extradition back to Las Vegas.
