Man accused of killing RPD officer charged in another homicide

The Boston man accused of fatally shooting a Rochester police officer in July is one of three men charged with murder in connection with a triple shooting in July.

Kelvin Vickers Jr., 21, Deadrick Fulwiley, 32, and Raheim Robinson, 20, each face four counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree reckless endangerment, and 12 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a shooting on North Clinton Avenue on July 20.

They were also charged with fourth-degree arson, a felony, in connection with an incident that occurred later on July 20. According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, a Grand Jury indictment charging the trio was unsealed on Tuesday.

Kelvin Vickers also charged in death of Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz

Vickers has been in the Monroe County Jail since late July, as he is accused of fatally shooting Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz and wounding a second officer and a 15-year-old girl inside the living room of her home when he allegedly fired at least 16 rounds into an unmarked police surveillance van on Bauman Street on July 21, one day after the North Clinton Avenue homicides. Mazurkiewicz and his partner Sino Seng were inside the van, hunting for a murder suspect when they were shot.

Vickers is facing eight felony charges in connection with Mazurkiewicz's death and is being held without bail.

Upcoming arraignments

Vickers and Fulwiley, also in custody since July on weapon and drug possession charges, are scheduled to be arraigned by Monroe County Court Judge Julie Hahn on Thursday. Robinson, who was apprehended in Massachusetts by Boston Police, will be arraigned after he is extradited to Rochester. First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles and Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schwartz, chief of the office's Major Felony Bureau, will be prosecuting the case.
