Love Island star and mental health advocate Malin Andersson has shared the happy news with followers that she's pregnant and feeling thrilled about her "new beginning". In an emotional announcement post on Instagram, Malin also spoke about the pain she's endured after the death of her daughter in 2019 and how there were times she never thought she'd be ready to experience such joy again.

In late December 2018, Malin welcomed her first child, a daughter, and named her Consy, after her late mother who passed away from skin cancer in November 2017. Baby Consy was born seven weeks premature and was transferred to the intensive care unit at Great Ormond Street hospital in London, where she tragically died less than a month later.

Since then, Malin has been a tireless advocate of talking about mental health in times of difficulty, and it's something she's clearly continuing during her pregnancy.

Along with a photo of her hands, and her partner's, cradling her baby bump, Malin described in the caption how his is her "next chapter", "new beginning", "happy ending" and "entire universe."

Malin explained she can't quite describe how she's feeling, but obviously she's elated by her baby news.

"Everything I’ve ever wanted, everything I visualised. A solid partner in my life, who has been there in the background - witnessed my life over the past 4 years and has stuck by me as a friend... and now a lover. This couldn’t feel any more right - and we’re now bringing a beautiful soul into this world," she wrote.

Malin then referenced the extreme pain she's been through with losing her daughter and explained there have been times she didn't think such happiness would be possible again.

"My heart feels electric writing this, my eyes tearing up... because I can promise you all there was once upon a time I never thought I could experience this. I was wrong. It just wasn’t the right time. All the pain I’ve endured has led to this very moment... my own little family," she added.

Malin concluded her post by speaking directly to her late mum and daughter.

"Mumma - I know you’re looking down with bright eyes and a big smile. Baby Consy - protect us from above," she wrote.

Malin has used her public platform to normalise the painful but important conversation around baby loss. At the end of last year, she posted a tribute to mark what would have been Consy's second birthday.

In a moving post, Malin celebrated her daughter's short life and opened up about how she has overcome grief in the years since her loss. "Happy Birthday Baby Girl," she wrote alongside a heart emoji. "Today - you would have been 2 years old. I always wonder how you would have been like... and what you would have looked like.

"Would you have had the same crazy care-free personality as me? Would you have been obsessed with the moon and stars, and the love for cheese and olives... and racing cars. I will never know," she wrote.

Malin went on to explain in her post how the pain of losing a child "never truly gets easier." Instead, "you kind of learn how to deal with the ongoing pain. The pain becomes part of who you are - an add on extension of your personality."

She added a message for anyone else on a similar journey, saying: "If you’re suffering, still in pain, grieving - start putting yourself first and begin the healing journey that you should be on."

It's wonderful to hear that Malin is feeling so happy and excited for her new arrival, and she's of course incredibly brave and inspirational in speaking so openly about the long-term impact of baby loss.
