Male's Selah Brown, St. X's Kevin Wallace receive top Class 6A honors from KFCA
Male High School defensive lineman Selah Brown and St. Xavier coach Kevin Wallace have received top Class 6A honors from the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.
Brown has been named Class 6A Player of the Year and Wallace Class 6A Coach of the Year by the association.
Brown, a 6-foot-2, 248-pound senior, had 31 tackles (14 solo), three tackles for loss and one sack while helping Male go 13-1 and finish as state runner-up after Saturday’s 31-21 loss to St. X. He has committed to the University of Louisville.
Wallace led St. X to a 14-1 record and his first state title in his fourth season at the school. Wallace has a career record of 336-115 in 36 seasons as a head coach at Warren East, Bowling Green and St. X. He has won six state titles, including five during a six-year span from 2011-16 at Bowling Green.
Other Player of the Year winners were Frederick Douglass’ Dane Key (Class 5A), Boyle County’s Jagger Gillis (4A), Belfry’s Isaac Dixon (3A), Beechwood’s Cameron Hergott (2A) and Pikeville’s Zac Lockhart (A).

Other Coach of the Year winners were Woodford County’s Dennis Johnson (Class 5A), Boyle County’s Justin Haddix (4A), East Carter’s Tim Champlin (3A), Middlesboro’s Larry French (2A) and Russellville’s Mikie Benton (A).
The KFCA will announce its Mr. Football and statewide Coach of the Year winners later this month.
