Male body found in area of Pocono Creek, Monroe County Coroner confirms

Authorities discovered a body in the area of Pocono Creek on Friday, according to a report from Monroe County Fire Wire that has been confirmed by the Monroe County Coroner's office.

Around 9:14 a.m., Stroud Area Regional Police, along with firefighters from three local stations, emergency medical services, and the Monroe County Coroner's acting chief were called to 300 Tanite Road and Emery Wheel Road for a report of a body in the water, the group specified in a Friday morning post.

Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac confirmed that a male body was found at the scene, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

No further details about the victim were released by officials as of Friday afternoon, though a Facebook post from Monroe County Fire Wire noted "It did take several hours to recover the body due to where it was located, Firefighters had to repel down from I-80 to recover the body."

Traffic on I-80 eastbound was partially interrupted this morning during the search.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
