Major League Baseball is back, and its players are very happy

After three months of pandemic, squabbling and uncertainty, Major League Baseball has announced an agreement with the Major League Baseball Players Association on protocols for a 2020 season after MLB commissioner Rob Manfred imposed a 60-game season.

It’s not how most people wanted this to go down, but it was still a relief to many that an MLB season would be played. That included the league’s own players, who reacted to the news with unrestrained glee.

Players are now set to report to spring training, or summer camp, on July 1, with an opening day of July 23 or 24. What comes after that will hopefully feel at least somewhere close to normal in a very surreal year.
