Mail in Dallas-Fort Worth will still be delivered despite icy conditions, USPS confirms

There is truth to the U.S. Postal Service creed after all: “Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds.”

Postal service for Dallas-Fort Worth will continue as normal, according to a press release from the postal service Wednesday morning.

“Mail and package delivery for residences and businesses is continuing as normal,” the postal service wrote. “Letter carriers will make every effort to deliver their routes if it is safe to do so. The Postal Service continues to monitor conditions around the clock.

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for Tarrant and 13 other North Texas counties from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday.

Hunter Reeves from the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said the areas affected by the ice storm could see up to half an inch of freezing rain Wednesday, making the roads extremely treacherous.

Retail operations in North Texas will remain open, according to the postal service. But certain locations may post adjusted hours depending on staffing levels and weather conditions.

The postal service said it will continue to monitor the weather to determine how to proceed: “We are continuing to track this week’s winter storm and taking all available actions necessary to maintain both safety and service.”
