Mack Brown meltdown results in penalty for UNC football after tough call vs. Notre Dame

UNC football coach Mack Brown, a white-haired, 71-year-old elder statesman and one of only five active coaches to have won a national championship, lost his cool after a call that negated the Tar Heels' goal-line stand against Notre Dame on Saturday at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

Brown was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after shouting, throwing his headset and gesturing dramatically when UNC's Cedric Gray was called for pass interference on a fourth-down pass to Chris Tyree in the end zone. Gray appeared to defend the pass cleanly, and Brown was pointing at video replays as he ranted to officials.

The fans in Chapel Hill roared in response to Brown's tirade, but they were quieted seconds later when Audric Estime plunged into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown to put the Fighting Irish up 38-14 in the third quarter
