Luzerne County reports 45 new positive COVID-19 cases Saturday; four more deaths

Feb. 28—Luzerne County reported 45 new positive COVID-19 cases and four new deaths, according to information provided Saturday by the state's department of health.

The county has experienced a total of 24,849 positive cases and the death toll is 729.

To date, 29,605 county residents have received partial vaccinations and 25,580 have received full vaccinations.

Statewide there are 3,361 additional cases, bringing the total to 929,697.

The state's death toll is now 23,937.

The trend in the 14-day moving average number of hospitalized patients per day is about 3,900 lower than it was at the peak on December 25, the Department of Health said in a press release Saturday.

However, the current 14-day average is just below what it was at the height of the spring peak on May 3, 2020, the department said.

* Rite Aid on South River Street in Plains Twp. is providing tests and patients must pre-register online at riteaid.com.

* MedExpress Urgent Care locations on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre and the West Side Mall in Edwardsville are providing tests. Patients can schedule a test at medexpress.com/covid19.html.

* CVS in the Midway Shopping Center in Wyoming and in Exeter provide drive-thru testing and can be scheduled by visiting cvs.com.
