Luzerne County has 153 new COVID-19 cases and one new death

Apr. 10—Luzerne County has 153 new positive COVID-19 cases as of Saturday and one new death, according to the state Department of Health.

That brings the county's total cases to 28,186 since the pandemic began and the death count is at 772.

The Department of Health reported that as of Saturday, there were 4,882 additional positive COVID-19 cases in Pennsylvania, bringing the statewide total to 1,068,974.

There are 2,439 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and of that number, 496 patients are in the intensive care unit. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 and older, health department officials said.

As of 11:59 p.m. Friday, there were 40 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 25,402 deaths attributed to COVID-19 statewide. Most of the deaths have occured in patients age 65 or older, according to the Department of Health.

As of Saturday morning, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Pennsylvania had administered first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to 36% of its eligible population.

According to the CDC, Pennsylvania ranks 20th among the 50 states for first doses administered by percentage of population and 6th among all states for total doses administered. Vaccine providers in Pennsylvania have administered 6,233,317 total vaccine doses as of Saturday.

Availability may vary based on supplies and the map only includes providers who have recently received first-dose vaccines.

* CVS in the Midway Shopping Center in Wyoming and in Exeter provide drive-thru testing and can be scheduled by visiting cvs.com.
