Lunadira dazzles as first Malaysian artist to perform on Colors

Singer-songwriter Lunadira debuted her latest single “Go Slow” on Colors, becoming the first Malaysian artist to perform on the studio’s visually striking stage.
Clad in a deep purple dress accented with shimmering golden accessories that were accentuated by the monochromatic teal room, Lunadira dazzled with silky smooth vocals that were backed by deep basslines embroidered with acoustic flourishes.
When asked by Colors Editorial about the state of the Malaysian musical landscape, the 28-year-old musician discussed the rise of subgenres like hyper-pop, as well as the sustained popularity of punk and indie rock scenes.

She attributed these successes to a new generation of artists who “actually give a f*ck” and hold themselves to a higher standard.”
“It’s so exciting to see them put on a show on stage,” Lunadira told Colors. “You know, kids nowadays, they care. Not in a political sense, but in a general sense they care a lot and it warms my heart.”
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Lunadira started uploading tracks and demos on platforms like YouTube and Soundcloud in 2014, eventually accumulating over a million streams for mellow indie tracks like “ur cute but boring” and “Hoodie.”
