On Friday, former Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo started the Seattle Mariners' first MLB postseason game since they lost the American League Championship Series to the New York Yankees in 2001.

Castillo dominated against the Blue Jays in a 4-0 win in Toronto in AL Wild Card Game 1, allowing six hits in 7 1/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks.

"Sadly people will say how can the Blue Jays come out and be flat in their first home game in the playoffs - they're not flat!" ESPN's Tim Kurkjian said during the broadcast. "They ran into a guy who has spectacular stuff and used it beautifully."

Former Reds infielder Eugenio Suarez also came through for Seattle, with two hits, two RBIs and a run scored.

Castillo and Suarez are among many former Reds players, coaches and managers Cincinnati fans can follow in the 2022 postseason.

Castillo, who made 137 starts over six seasons for the Reds from 2017 until he was traded to the Mariners in July for Edwin Arroyo, Noelvi Marte, Andrew Moore and Levi Stoudt, was 4-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 11 starts for Seattle after the trade.
