Deion Sanders’ staff is coming together at Colorado, and it involves the hiring of an LSU staffer.

LSU’s associate director of player personnel Corey Phillips will become Colorado’s director of player personnel, according to On3.

Phillips came to LSU from NC State and spent one year with the Tigers. Phillips spent a long time coaching high school ball in Tennessee and is well-connected in the south. It’s a good hire for a Colorado program that has to go outside of the state to find elite talent.

LSU’s director of player personnel Will Redmond remains with the Tigers, as does assistant director of player personnel Mike Ferrara.

Redmond was hired in 2021 and was one of the few holdovers from the Ed Orgeron era. It’s unclear whether LSU will just promote Ferrara into the associate role or if Brian Kelly will look elsewhere to fill the position.

With the volatility the transfer portal brings to rosters, these administrative roles are now critical pieces of programs.
