Christmas Morning Café, Louisville

Sad news out of Louisville, Kentucky, this week. Christmas Morning Café, the Christmas-themed breakfast and brunch restaurant that opened back in 2020, is shutting its doors for good.

The cheer-filled establishment announced on social media Monday that it would be closing permanently on Sunday, May 29.

"To all our wonderful friends at Christmas Morning Café. After much deliberation and after two fantastic years full of fun with Santa and other great memories we have decided to close!" the first post reads. "Christmas Morning Café will close for Good as of May 29th. There's no way to express the exciting times we've had with all of you at our little place on Frankfort Avenue except… Wow! And to say… Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good night!"

Owner Craig Bishop opened the café in the peak of the coronavirus pandemic after dreaming about opening a Christmas-themed eatery for years. Bishop served inventive dishes like Rudolph's Fresh Berry Crepes, "Jingle All the" Waffle Sticks, and "The Grinches" Avocado Toast year-round along with a heaping portion of festive décor.

"Let me say this…. not many people have had or will have the chance to live the fairytale that we've lived here for two years, it goes beyond measure to say how valuable these times have been in the vein of great memories and fun times," Bishop wrote in a follow-up post.

He went on to explain their choice to close, and even teased a possible comeback.

"Rest assured I always have something up my sleeve and sometime in the future we may be back to doing something that involves Christmas, who knows, you all know it's my passion," Bishop wrote. "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night, no matter how corny that sounds ….that's the way I like it."

We're certainly sad to see y'all go!
