Louisville Free Public Library extends suspension of in-person events because of COVID-19

UPDATE: The Louisville Free Public Library said it will extend the pause on in-person programs and meeting room reservations through Jan. 31 due to "high COVID positivity rates in our community."

The Louisville Free Public Library will suspend all in-person events and programming because of rising rates of COVID-19 in the community.

The two-week pause will begin Jan. 10, according to a news release from the library.

Some events may still be held virtually during this time, but patrons are encouraged to call the host branch to confirm a program's status. All meeting room reservations also will be canceled for two weeks.

Other in-person services will still be available, but masks are required at all times inside the libraries.

Kentucky reported a record 11,096 new COVID-19 cases Friday and 39 additional coronavirus-related deaths. The state's test positivity rose to 24.5%.
