Longmont police seek information about suspected drive-by shooting
May 17—Longmont police are seeking the public's help to gather more information about a person suspected of firing a gun out the window of a vehicle on Friday.
No one was injured.
About 11 p.m. Friday, several Longmont officers were dispatched to the 00 block of 21st Avenue after receiving a report of several gunshots, said Robin Ericson, spokesperson for the Longmont Public Safety Department. The caller said an unknown person fired several shots into the air and then fired into a front yard.
Police found at least one shell casing in the area, Ericson said.
A surveillance video in the area showed a red four-door sedan driving past in the time frame that shots were fired, Ericson said. A second camera captured footage showing a passenger in a vehicle extending their arm out the window and holding what appears to be a black handgun.
Longmont police are asking any witnesses or anyone who has additional surveillance video to contact the police department at 303-651-8501 and reference case 22-3857.
