Longmont Elks Lodge to host charity event for Veterans Community Project

Oct. 20—The Longmont Elks Lodge 1055 will present a roughly $5,000 grant to Veterans Community Project and host a charity event on Saturday.

The event will start at 5 p.m. at the Longmont Elks Lodge, 306 Coffman St. An Elks Lodge news release said that there will be a number of silent auctions for $230 in Murdoch's products, more than $500 in Magpul products and $200 in Scheels products. A gun raffle will also take place, with the proceeds split between Veterans Community Project and the lodge. Winners will have to pass a background check to receive either a rifle or a shotgun.

Dinner will be provided by Pork Hub Food Truck for $20. Those who would like a meal are asked to call the Elks Lodge in advance. Live music will be performed by the band Highway Robbery.

People leading Veterans Community Project will attend the event and talk about how the nonprofit seeks to help end veteran homelessness.

A $5 donation is recommended for those that stop by. To learn more or to reserve a dinner, call the Longmont Elks Lodge at 303-776-1055.
