At approximately 8:27 a.m., dispatch received calls about a two-vehicle accident at the Anoka Exchange location.

According to the Cass County Sheriff's Department, Jamie Pay, 24, Logansport, was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on U.S. 35 in the left lane of the two-lane highway when she struck a tractor-trailer that also was in the left, southbound lane of U.S. 35. Upon impact, the Equinox spun and came to rest in the right lane of the highway, south of the interchange.

The semi-truck was a 2020 Volvo with a Wabash National trailer, according to the CCSD. The driver was 25-year-old Jaspreet Singh of Sacramento, Calif.

According to the sheriff's department, witnesses stated that the semi driver was backing up northbound in a southbound lane on U.S. 35 with his hazard lights activated. Singh allegedly was attempting to turn eastbound onto U.S. 24 after initially missing the turn.
