Dec. 2—The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team will be trying to break a dubious streak this weekend.

The Wildcats, who are 0-9-1 in Hockey East and winless in their last 10 games, will host No. 8 Boston University in a home-and-home series. Friday's 7 p.m. game is at the Whittemore Center in Durham; tomorrow's 6 p.m. contest is set for Agganis Arena in Boston.

Friday's game is telecast on NESN Plus. All UNH contests are broadcast on the Wildcat Sports Radio Network (WGIR 610 AM, WQSO 96.7 FM, WPKX 930 AM).

The Terriers, under first-year head coach Jay Pandolfo, are 8-4-0 overall, 5-3 in Hockey East. They are led offensively by senior forward Matt Brown (seven goals, 10 assists), who played two seasons at UMass Lowell before transferring before his junior year.

In goal, BU has used both Drew Commesso (eight games, 2.41 goals-against average), a second-round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020, and Vinny Duplessis (five games, 2.85 GAA).

In all, the Terriers' roster shows 12 players who have been drafted by an NHL team.

Franklin Pierce men's soccer team gains Division II final

The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team is one win from a national championship.

The Ravens on Thursday drubbed Lake Erie College 5-2 in a Division II semifinal in Seattle. All four FPU scorers hail from Spain: Miguel Angel Pastor Gutierrez, Javier Gutierrez (two goals), Marc Lopez and Younes Addar.

The Ravens (24-0-1), the top-ranked team in Division II, will play the winner of Thursday's later game between Barry and Colorado State Pueblo in Saturday's 3 p.m. (EST) championship match.

Rollinsford's Hill won't return to Chicago Red Stars

The Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League announced Thursday that Rollinsford native Rachel Hill, Danielle Colaprico and Morgan Gautrat do not plan to re-sign with the club this offseason.

Hill, 27, spent the past three seasons with Chicago after she was dealt to the Red Stars by the Orlando Pride during the 2020 NWSL draft.

The Somersworth High School and University of Connecticut graduate recorded one goal over 21 games, including 15 starts, as Chicago finished sixth in the 12-team league table and fell to San Diego Wave FC, 2-1, in the NWSL quarterfinals last season.

Hill, who traditionally plays forward but spent last season as a wing back, recorded six goals with the Red Stars, including scoring their lone goal in their 2-1 loss to the Washington Spirit in the 2021 NWSL championship game. Hill played in 102 regular-season games for Chicago.

Hill, Colaprico and Gautrat were among 22 across the league, all with at least six years of NWSL service and contracts expiring on Dec. 31, who were awarded free agency eligibility for this offseason. The decision came following independent arbitration, which concluded in October, between the NWSL and National Women's Soccer League Player Association.
