Maddux Holshouser and Alexander Hughes pitched in relief.

The Copperheads (8-10) totaled 17 hits for the game — including three doubles and two home runs. They scored three in the first, three in the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the seventh to enact the mercy rule.

The HiToms, after visiting Martinsville on Thursday, will host the Mustangs tonight. High Point-Thomasville, which trails one-loss Savannah by 4 1/2 games atop the CPL West standings, will end the first half Saturday at Forest City.

It will then face Asheboro in four consecutive games next week to start the second half.
