LOCAL ROUNDUP: Crestwood laxers capture 14th win

May 9—The Crestwood girls' lacrosse team rolled past Selinsgrove 16-3 Saturday, moving to 14-2-1 on the season with the non-conference victory.

Isabella Caporuscio, who scored her 100th goal of the season on Friday, added five more against Selinsgrove, and also assisted on two goals.

Jill Taleroski scored three goals, Kelsey Kulak and Grace Pasternick each had a pair, and Julia Glowacki, Julia Johnson, Julia Rose and Brooke Lapinski also had Crestwood goals.

Avery Bogdon and Morgan Koons teamed up in goal for the Lady Comets.

Erin Mullen had all three goals for Selinsgrove.

Crestwood 7 Danville 7

Julia Glowacki and Isabella Caporuscio each scored three goals, and Caporuscio scored her 100th goal of the season as Crestwood tied Danville in their non-conference matchup on Friday.

Jill Taleroski also had a goal and assist, and Glowacki and Caporuscio both had assists for the Lady Comets. Avery Bogdon made seven saves in goal.

Danville received goals from Lucy Pickle, Olivia Outt, Kara Baylor, Natalie Hampton, Kyra Welliver and Alivia Hosterman. The Ironmen won 10 faceoffs to Crestwood's three.

H.S. Softball Pine Grove 15 Tamaqua 0

Alissa Dorsey and Lillian Barra each had four hits as Pine Grove collected 21 hits in a six-inning win over Tamaqua in a Schuylkill League Division I game Friday.

The victory allowed Pine Grove (12-5, 9-3 D-I) to extend its lead in the Division I wild-card race to one game over Blue Mountain (9-5, 8-4).

Dorsey had four singles and scored three runs, while Barra collected three singles, a double and scored three runs. Faith Wolff had three hits, including a home run, while Megan Wolfe, Bailley Dorson, Emily Fisher and Alera Aungst had two hits.

Wolfe struck out nine and scattered five hits to record the shutout victory. Bryn Clifford had two hits for Tamaqua.

Caelinn McGroarty went 4-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBIs as Mahanoy Area defeated Shenandoah Valley in a non-league game Friday.

Meghan Macleary went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs for Mahanoy Area, which built an early 6-1 lead and never looked back. This was the fourth time this season these teams have played each other, with Mahanoy Area winning three.

Alexa Menjivar was 2-for-3 with a double for Shenandoah Valley.

Kayla Lagowy went 3-for-5 with a single, triple, home run and two RBIs to help power the Lady Cougars to the win.

Nanci Major was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Lilah Sharkey (2-for-3) drove in four runs with a single and double. Lucia DeJohn singled in a run, Addison Tobia had a single and scored a run, and Kaitlyn Puzzetti was solid on the basepaths.

Elia Tito (3 strikeouts) got the pitching win, with relief help from Sharkey (7 strikeouts).
