Warehouse raises funds for Heroes Landing

ZANESVILLE — Malouf Companies will donate funds from an upcoming mattress and furniture warehouse sale to Heroes Landing Children's Justice Center. The sale will be from noon to 7 p.m. June 3 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 4 and 5 the Longaberger Homestead, 5563 Raiders Road, Frazesyburg.

Holsky named to bank board

ZANESVILLE — Eric S. Holsky, president and chief executive officer of The Community Bank, has been named to the bank's board of directors.

The board plays a critical role in policy decisions, authorizes rulemaking and oversees the bank’s operations. The board is comprised of Chairman Terry Goss, Vice Chairman Doug Waltman, Secretary John Allen, Brandon Hess, Monica Martinelli, Randy Buckley and Tom Barone.

Holsky began his financial career in 1990 as an associate vice president and trust officer. He has a master's degree in business administration from Ohio University and has earned the chartered financial analyst designation.

Local students place in essay contest

COSHOCTON — Isaiah Sealey placed second and Jaclyn Connell placed fourth for eighth grade in the in the 23rd annual Laws of Life essay contest sponsored by the Better Business Bureau and its Center for Character Ethics. Both attend Bishop Fenwick.

The contest celebrates students’ core values, ideals and principles by which everyone lives. Essays focus on a law of life of the student’s choosing. The contest challenges young people to discover through reflection and writing what matters most to them in their own lives and the principles they believe should guide their behaviors and choices. More than $2,150 in awards were given to 19 students.

Locals make dean's list

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA — Chloe Campbell of McConnelsville and Lyndsay Deal of Chandlersville made the spring semester dean's list at the University of Evansville. Campbell is majoring in literature and Deal in exercise science.

Shinnick Scholarships awarded

ZANESVILLE — Local students receiving Shinnick Scholarships were Emily Backus, Kennedy Tolliver, Luke Pratt, Michael Smith and Rachel Smith of Bishop Rosecrans High School; Matthew Baldwin, Lucas Watson and Charles Lightle of Zanesville High School; Scott Moore of John Glenn High School; Anna Paul of Tri-Valley High School and Caleb Silvia and Rachelle Snyder of West Muskingum High School.

Locals achieve at WSCC

MARIETTA — Susan Scott of Chandlersville and Emil Valent of Philo were named to the spring semester president's list at Washington State Community College. Named to the dean's list were Tyler Coleman, Sierra Moore and Kylie Pope of McConnelsville; Jacob Clagett of New Concord; Darrien Grubb of Stockport; and Michael Sinkowski of Malta.

'Odd Couple' at Twin City Opera House

MCCONNELSVILLE — The female version of "The Odd Couple" will be presented at 7 p.m. June 3 and 4 and 2 p.m. June 5 at the Twice City Opera House in McConnelsville. Cost is $5 at the door.

Camille Gillespie stars as Florence Unger and Bobbi Parsons is Olive Madison. Also in the cast are Susan Spence, Heather Gillespie, Candy Totman, Linda Rose, Steve Hanson and Larry Embree. Director is Betsy Martin.

Glenn Museum celebrates anniversary

Wheeler places in archery tournament

NEW CONCORD — Brooklyn Wheeler of John Glenn High School recently placed sixth in Eastern National archery competition in Louisville, Kentucky. The contest featured 2,055 female archers. Wheeler will participate in world competition in June in Kentucky.
