Known for its support of various small businesses and other sectors within the area, the Hendersonville branch of national electrical wholesale franchise City Electric Supply recently commemorated over two decades of providing such contributions to the community.

On Jan. 13, CES employees and customers celebrated the 25th anniversary since its opening, marking years of serving people and businesses in the Hendersonville community.

“For a business, being anywhere 25 years is pretty impressive,” said Lane Owen, CES Hendersonville branch manager for over 10 years. “It was good to have all the customers and have some of our vendors here. It was fun.”

CES marked the occasion with a three-hour event at the branch complete with food and discounts for community members that joined in the celebration. The store also hosted many of its vendors that displayed and demonstrated their products and services for interested customers.

The Hendersonville branch serves as one of over 537 CES stores located across 30 states, including numerous locations across Western North Carolina. CES provides electric products and services for residential, commercial and industrial purposes, with each branch tailored to fit the needs of local customers.

For CES Hendersonville leadership, having a presence in the Hendersonville community goes beyond simply stocking and selling product. Owen said the anniversary allowed for the business to honor what it has continually done over the past 25 years – connect with Hendersonville community members beyond a transactional basis.

“You get to put the business aside and really get to interact with the customers,” he said. “It’s more personable.”

With a history of serving businesses and other entities, including the City of Hendersonville and local schools, Owen said he and CES continually look to build such connections within various economic and governmental sectors of the area.

“Really just reaching out more into the community to new businesses coming along, manufacturers, just striving more to get out into the community more,” he said.

Since its doors opened in 1997, CES has looked to make an impact on the large small business presence in Hendersonville. The key to success in connecting with those community-based businesses has been providing consistent service and care to all customers, Owen said.

“It’s a small-town community, and within that just the relationships that you can build and hold to for 25 years,” he said. “We’ve had customers that have actually been coming that full 25 years.”

CES Hendersonville stayed true to its character of serving community interests at its anniversary event. Along with providing customers and visitors with food, prizes and vendor information at the store, CES Hendersonville raised funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, thanks to a national partnership between the two groups through CES’s social change program, CES Cares.
