LizFit sets $100k goal for 10th annual Spinning Generosity

PORTSMOUTH - Portsmouth-based fitness company, LizFit, has announced the dates for its annual Spinning Generosity event—the Seacoast’s annual indoor cycling event that raises money for seven local organizations—with loftier goals than ever before. Mark your calendars for the week of Dec, 13-19 to join in on this fun community fitness event

After taking a year off in 2020 from this festive community-based event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LizFit Owner Liz Forkel and her team are back and ready for what they anticipate to be the highest-grossing year yet, hoping to break their previous fundraising record of over $70,000 in 2019, with a goal of raising $100,000 for local charities in 2021. The public will have the opportunity to sign up to ride or fundraise on the LizFit app, the LizFit website, and through MindBody. Donations will also be gratefully accepted through Dec. 19.

After nine years of hosting her Spinning Generosity event, Seacoast resident Liz Forkel is on a mission to make the 10th annual event the best one yet. Charities that the LizFit community will raise money for this year include HAVEN, Community Toolbox, Girls on the Run, End 68 Hours of Hunger, Step Up Parents, Families First, and Gather. All of the money will go directly to the respective organizations.

Participants from throughout the Seacoast come together at LizFit’s indoor cycling studio (located at Spinnaker Point Recreation Center in Portsmouth) to support seven local charities through seven days of indoor spinning classes and giving. Organization leaders speak to the group at the beginning of each class so participants can be educated about each charity and learn how the money raised is going to benefit their endeavors and contribute to our neighbors in need. Each class is 50 minutes long, and is do-able for all levels—even those who have never taken a cycling class before.
