Former UGA football star and current U.S. Senate hopeful Herschel Walker was in the Classic City on Monday for his final rally before the primary election.

Walker's rally at The Foundry in Athens, which had an attendance of less than 100 people, featured remarks from former UGA football coach Vince Dooley and former Georgia football player Col. Mike Steele.

The Heisman-winning Georgia Bulldog received and endorsement from former President Donald Trump in September. Walker later appeared at a rally in Banks County with Trump and his other slate of endorsed candidates.

Walker is running against Gary Black, Josh Clark, Kelvin King, Jonathan “Jon” McColumn and Latham Saddler in the May 24 primary. The winner will face incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock in the November general election.
