Little Theatre brings 'Church Basement Ladies' to the stage at the Firebarn

FALL RIVER — From the basement to the Firebarn, Little Theatre of Fall River is happy to bring a high energy show to the stage this holiday season. “Church Basement Ladies,” a musical comedy, will be making its way to the Firebarn, 340 Prospect St., Dec. 1 to 11.

“A celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who work there, “Church Basement Ladies” is a musical comedy featuring four distinct characters and their relationships as they organize the food and solve the problems of a rural Minnesota church about to undergo changes in the 60s” said Bobby Perry, the show's director.

Perry, who is a Little Theatre staple, has directed countless musical comedies over the years that have left local audiences entertained.  This production should be more of the same from Perry and the talented cast he has assembled.

Amongst the cast are Little Theatre favorites, Jeff Belanger and Cathy Taitz. Between the two, they boast over 60 years of stage experience and never-ending laughs.  Joining the two veteran actors are Mary Wrobleski, Lynne-Marie Dandeneau and Emily Gene Fleet.

With larger than life characters, the show is certain to not disappoint. “They stave off potential disasters, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the Pastor on course while thoroughly enjoying (and tolerating) each other as the true “steel magnolias” of the church.  Funny and down to earth, audiences will recognize these ladies as they witness the church year unfold from below the house of God,” said Perry.

If you need a break from the stressors this holiday season, do not hesitate to make your way over to the historic Firebarn theatre and share in the laughs and joys this production is sure to bring.

Performance times are: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-3 and 8-10, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 4 and 11, at 2 p.m.

General admission tickets are $25 and $10 for children under 12. For more information and for tickets, visit LittleTheatre.net.
