Lithia Springs motorcyclist killed in Austell crash
Oct. 18—A Lithia Springs motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Sunday when he collided with a vehicle turning across his path into an Austell driveway, police say.
Cobb Police say 37-year-old David Ballard was driving a blue 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle west on Veterans Memorial Highway around 9 p.m. when a gray 2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude traveling east made a left turn into a private drive at 5770 Harris St., entering the path of Ballard's motorcycle.
The Suzuki collided with the right side of the Jeep, leaving Ballard with serious injuries. Police say Ballard was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee Latitude, 30-year-old Melissa Milligan of Charlotte, North Carolina, received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.
The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
