Apr. 17—After the death of George Floyd and the stresses of a year of Covid-19, community young people and elders came together in a three-month Zoom conversation focused on healing from trauma. Their conversations inspired the book "From Hurt to Healing: An Intergenerational Activity Book," a collaboration between Every Body's In and Irreducible Grace Foundation (IGF), two Black-led nonprofits in St. Paul's Rondo community.

Some creators of "From Hurt to Healing," along with members of the East Side Freedom Library community, will talk about how this coloring activity book can promote cross-generational connection and healing from trauma at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 23 via Zoom.

The book features coloring pages of community elders including blocks of texts and inspirational quotes through which they share their wisdom and experiences about moving from hurt to healing, as well as hand-drawn coloring pages of breathing tools with directions and other healing practices such as humming, hair braiding, and dancing. There are word searches and writing prompts to encourage intergenerational dialogue as well as coloring pages of the Selby Avenue Jazz Fest, Rondo Days, and other local festivals.
