Mar. 6—BRUCE BERGLUND — Raised on Duluth's outdoor hockey rinks, Berglund spent two decades teaching at colleges and returned to hockey to research its history as a world sport, resulting in his book "The Fastest Game in the World: Hockey and the Globalization of Sports." JOHN MOE: Minnesota reporter and talk show host, whose podcast is "The Hilarious World of Depression," discusses his book with the same name, in which he shares, sometimes humorously, all he knows about the illness from which he suffers, from personal experience to extensive research and years of interviews with fellow sufferers. 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, presented by Metropolitan Library Service Agency's Club Book series at facebook.com/ClubBook. No registration required.

LAURA MUNSON: Bestselling author of "This Is Not the Story You Think It Is" introduces her new novel, "Willa's Grove," in conversation with Julie Metz, bestselling author of "Perfection." Munson's story is about three women, at crossroads in mid-life, who are invited to the Montana homestead of Willa Silvester, whose husband has died. In the rugged wilderness of Big Sky Country, the women decide where their lives will go. 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, presented by Magers & Quinn live on Facebook and YouTube.

ALEXANDER MCCALL SMITH: Author of the popular The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series set in Botswana turns his talents to short stories in "Pianos and Flowers: Brief Encounters of the Romantic Kind," a collection of 14 stories imagining the lives and loves of everyday people in the 20th century, inspired by photos from the Times of London archive. They range from a young woman who finds unexpected love while studying Egyptian antiquities to a family forever fractured when war comes to Penang in colonial Malaysia. Noon Wednesday, March 10, presented via Zoom by Next Chapter Booksellers. To register: nextchapterbooksellers.com.
