Lisa Loring, who played Wednesday Addams on 'The Addams Family': Then and Now

It's creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky... just how fast the years go by.

How many years, exactly? More than 50. It was back in 1964 that the world was first introduced to "The Addams Family," the eccentric sitcom that would eventually become a cultural landmark.

Lisa Loring was just six years old when she took on the role of Wednesday Addams, the long-braided youngest daughter of Morticia and Gomez. And while her on-screen persona was certainly unorthodox, her real life story is perhaps even wilder.

At the age of 16, Loring wed her childhood sweetheart and gave birth to her first child. After their split a year later, she would marry for the second time, welcome another daughter, and divorce again.

But it was in the late '80s that Loring really made headlines. She wed adult film actor Jerry Butler, who she'd met on the set of a porno -- Loring was working as a makeup artist. But the stress of being in a relationship with a porn actor took a major toll on the couple. They sat down with "Dateline" and other talk shows to discuss the industry-related ramifications on their relationship. The two ultimately split.

As her marriage disintegrated, Loring found solace, she would later reveal, in heroin. It was also around that time that she discovered the body of one of her close friends, Kelly Van Dyke -- the daughter of Jerry Van Dyke -- after an apparent suicide. She entered rehab in the early '90s.

These days, Loring largely stays out of the spotlight, but she does make occasional appearances: In 2017 fans were excited to meet her at the New Jersey Horror Con & Film Festival.

Although Loring was absent from the recent premiere of the new "Addams Family" film, she hopefully found Chloe Grace Moretz to be a suitable person to bring Wednesday Addams back to life.
