Lions show off the deep coaching staff full of former NFL players

One of the more exciting developments of the new-look Detroit Lions is the vast playing experience of the coaching staff. Starting at the top with head coach Dan Campbell, more than half of the Lions 2021 coaches played in the NFL.

That’s a stark change from the Matt Patricia regime, though it does include holdover OL coach Hank Fraley, a longtime NFL center. Adding in RB coach Duce Staley, defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and QB coach Mark Brunell and the Lions have several recognizable former NFL names on Campbell’s staff.

The Lions decided to have some fun with it, presenting a football card of each coach from his playing days in an Instagram post.

Having so many former players on the staff should help ensure that there won’t be the disconnect or lack of respect between coaches and players that was a big issue under Patricia.
