The fifth episode of Line Of Duty revealed who Jo Davidson's DNA match is: Tommy Hunter, while the sixth episode revealed how they were related. But who actually is he? Here's what you need to know about his previous Line Of Duty storylines.

*Spoilers*

Who is Line Of Duty's Tommy Hunter?

Tommy Hunter played a large part in the first two seasons of the BBC show, played by Brian McArdie. The Glaswegian was the first leader of the OCG and was later unmasked as a paedophile, who employed a teenage Matthew Cottan (Craig Parkinson) aka The Caddy to do work with him at Edge Park Golf Club.

Cottan was eventually enticed into a world of crime, with Tommy getting him to join the police so he could have someone on the inside, taking centre stage in a later series of the show.

While Tommy would head up the OCG unit, Dot would inform him from the inside, with Tommy blackmailing police officer Tony Gates as well as torturing Steve Arnott in an attempt to discover what AC-12 knew about his activities in the first series.

Later, Tommy began working alongside Central Police as an informant in exchange for immunity from prosecution, though was killed in the second series of Line Of Duty when a vehicle escorting him to a safe house was ambushed.

Though he survived the initial attack, he was then killed by DC Cole who disguised himself as a nurse and injected air into his IV line in the intensive care unit.

In series three, Hunter was then revealed to have played a part in the sexual abuse that took place at Sands View. He was briefly mentioned by name by Lisa McQueen in series five.

So, what's Jo Davidson's connection to Tommy Hunter?

In the fifth episode of Line Of Duty we discovered that Jo and Tommy were "partial DNA matches".

While the DNA match was not addressed again in the fifth episode, it took centre stage in episode six when Jo Davidson and Kate Fleming were arrested for Ryan Pilkington's death.

During Jo's interview with AC-12's Steve Arnott, Patricia Carmichael and Ted Hastings, it's revealed that Tommy Hunter is both Jo Davidson's uncle and father - a fact she had previously not known. What viewers don't find out is the nature of Jo's mother's relationship with Tommy Hunter.
